Getting fit isn't just about losing weight to get down into a smaller size to look good again. That's a great shorter term benefit that many are after, but it isn't what it's all about. And focusing on only that aspect is what keeps many from succeeding.
The primary purpose for getting fit is about living a healthier life and feeling your best. It's about being fit enough to be able to do the things you want to do in life without the limitations that being out of shape bring. There's so much more to it than just how you look in the mirror or to others.
When you focus on the long term benefits of getting fit through regular exercise and proper food control, and do it for life, the short term benefits will come. You'll get both.
But if you focus only on the short term, chances are you won't get either. Oftentimes, when people focus on the short term too much, they get disappointed and give up when they don't see enough success quick enough, because they're not looking at things long term. On-again-off-again diets and exercise programs just don't work for most people. It's time to make lifestyle changes you can live with for life.
Get more active and be more mindful of what you eat on a regular basis. Make that commitment and start now. It will be worth it. Just don't quit. Do it for life.
