Sound familiar? I know. It happens to me, too. All too often.
For example, I didn't feel like getting out for a walk the other day when I knew I should. I didn't have a good reason not to, I just didn't feel like it. Plain and simple, I was feeling lazy, caught in the law of inertia (unless acted upon by an external force, an object at rest remains at rest).
And we certainly can come up with all kinds of ways of talking ourselves out of things we know we should do but don't want to. Like... “It's too cold out there.” Yep, I tried that one, too. But my dedication said, “Suck it up, we're going.”
Sometimes you just gotta ignore the resistance that your mind and body are giving you for no good reason, and do it anyway. That's how goals are reached.
I went and was glad I did (as always). My girls and I got some exercise and I felt better. We also covered more ground for our mileage goal this year.
So when you're thinking you should go for a walk, take a bike ride, get to the gym, etc, but you just don't feel like it... suck it up and do it anyway. Trust me... you'll feel better and be glad you did. Just take that first step and get moving. :)
